2025 Call for submissions
DRAC is launching its call for submissions for exhibitions for its 2025 programming. The centre invites artists, collectives, and curators to submit a project for our annual call for submissions.
DRAC showcases both emerging and established artists and presents through its projects a variety of mediums that offer a panorama of current artistic practices. Mediation is central to the centre's mission and is essential to the dissemination of practices to its publics. DRAC is a member of the Société des musées du Québec and is a museum accredited by the Ministry of Culture and Communications.
In the pursuit of its Action Plan for Sustainable Development, the centre is sensitive to environmental issues. This means that projects that will require large-scale construction in the space are not encouraged unless it is essential to the project.
The submissions must be filled on the online form on February 12, 2024, at the latest. Only complete submissions will be considered. The applications will be evaluated by a committee of visual arts experts.
Elements of the application
• Project description (maximum 500 words); • Artist statement (maximum 500 words); • Physical description of the proposed exhibition, including the number of artworks, the configuration of the space and any special technical requirements (maximum 150 words); • Resume (and those of collaborators if applicable); • Visual documentation and full captions (images: maximum 10 images in JPEG 72 dpi format / audios and videos: maximum 3 external links, maximum duration of 7 minutes each); • A plan for the project's layout (optional); • Press reviews or other documents relevant to the study of the application (optional).

Conditions
• Exhibition projects last from 6 to 8 weeks; • Fees will be paid according to the scales recommended by the Canadian Artists Representation (CARFAC); • Technical assistance will be provided during the installation; • DRAC will pay for transportation, accommodation and per diem for the journey at Drummondville; • DRAC has an inventory of audiovisual material and exhibition furniture available.
Selection criteria
• The singularity of the reflection and the relevance of the subject matter with respect to current artistic practices;
• The project is new or has not been presented within a reasonable time frame in the administrative regions of Centre-du-Québec, Estrie, Mauricie, Montérégie or Chaudière-Appalaches;
• The themes explored enable DRAC to carry out mediation activities for a wide range of audiences;
• The majority of the works must have been produced within the last 5 years.
All applicants will receive a response at the end of the selection process, no later than the end of April 2024.
Eligibility
• The artist or curator must be a professional recognized by her/his peers or an emerging professional, trained or in training at a recognized institution;
• The artist did not present a solo exhibition at DRAC in the last five years;
• The curator did not present an exhibition project at DRAC in the last three years;
• In the case of this call for submissions, only projects from artists and curators residing in the province of Quebec will be accepted;
• Applicants who have difficulty providing the requested material in the suggested format may contact the team at info@drac.ca and make an arrangement for the submission of a project.
• Project applications may not be submitted by third parties such as galleries, non-profit organizations, companies, etc.
In order to be more representative, DRAC strongly encourages people from communities that are underrepresented in visual arts to submit an application.
