Call for performance
DRAC is launching a call for submissions for performance art as part of its 2027 programming. The centre invites artists and collectives to submit a project. The call is being launched in collaboration with Centre CLARK, an artist-run centre in Montreal.
The project presented must be in line with the mission of both organizations, which is to present works specific to the tradition of performance art as it emerges from the visual arts, particularly those that cannot be presented in performing arts contexts. Each project is selected by the Centre CLARK’s performance committee—composed of artist members of the performance art community—and the DRAC team in order to strengthen the visibility and sustainability of this still underrepresented medium.
Through this call for submissions, DRAC and Centre CLARK aim to increase opportunities for performances outside of dedicated contexts to support artists who engage in this practice. CLARK is thus continuing its efforts to democratize this practice among diverse audiences. In this sense, CLARK underscores its ongoing support for action art and its many variations.
DRAC offers a varied program—featuring both emerging and established artists—that presents an overview of current artistic practices and a wide range of media. Mediation is central to the centre’s mission and is essential to disseminating practices to its audiences. DRAC is an exhibition centre that is a member of the Société des musées du Québec and is accredited by the Ministry of Culture and Communications. It should be noted that, in pursuit of its sustainable development action plan, the centre is sensitive to environmental issues. This means that projects requiring major construction work in the space are not encouraged unless it is essential to the project. Only projects requiring non-scenic technical support will be selected.
