About
Le gymnase des résistances transforms the exhibition space into a hybrid environment combining a gym, a studio, and a symbolic worksite for the body. Modified pieces of equipment become metaphorical sculptures, revealing tensions between performance, care, and exhaustion. The gym is approached as a paradoxical site between control, refuge, and resistance. Unstable and inoperative machines question the obsession with bodily optimization. The fragmented floor and monumental paintings evoke emotional and physical states. The exhibition of the artists Jacinthe Loranger and Frédérique Ulman-Gagné creates an immersive experience encouraging us to slow down and feel what is around us. It examines the wellness industry and reconsiders the body as a space of vulnerability, transformation, and collective solidarity.
Workshops for groups
Explore the exhibition in a whole new way!
For each exhibition, DRAC offers three workshops inspired by the works presented. This is a unique opportunity for groups to experiment and create in the style of the artists.
- Sculptural assemblage
- Steel wire drawing
- Modelling with vegetables-based clay
The workshops are designed for a variety of audiences, including school groups (from elementary through university) and community groups.
